BANK ROBBERY ARREST January 23, 2012 Investigation into the CIBC bank robbery on Jan 20th has resulted in the arrest of a 42 yr old North Bay man. Scott Leonard Boyes of Lakeshore Dr was arrested at 5:17PM on Jan 20th near the intersection of Lakeshore Dr and George St. He was charged with robbery, possession of a controlled substance, and held in custody for a bail hearing. VEHICLES ENTERED January 10, 2012 Between 6:00 and 6:15 PM on Jan 9th three vehicles parked in Memorial Gardens parking lot had the rear passenger windows smashed and a woman’s purse stolen from each. All three were targeted because the purses were visible from outside the vehicle. During this audit, it was learned that several pills were unaccounted for. FURTHER POPPY FUND CHARGES November 14, 2011 William McDaid 31yrs of no fixed address has been charged with 6 additional charges of theft under $5000.00. Four of the new charges are in relation to the poppy fund thefts. The other two new charges are in relation to incidents that occurred in August where a man went around the counter at two different businesses and removed cash from the cash register when the employees were busy. ASSAULT POLICE November 9, 2011 At 3:23 pm November 8th a man stepped in front of a northbound police car on the Main St overpass. Once the cruiser stopped the man held up his fists, and started kicking and punching the driver’s door preventing the officer from getting out. On the 6th November an attempt was made to steal a Poppy Fund Tray from a Mac’s Mart on Lakeshore Dr. It would appear that it is the same culprit in both occurrences.

Pig Recovered August 23, 2011 City Police are pleased to report that the Pot-Bellied Pig from a Decaire Road residence in North Bay, reported stolen this morning, has been recovered. According to the owner, the pig was released while unknown persons were breaking into her shed. The Pig, named “Breakfast”, was picked up by a North Bay Humane Society patrol officer last night, and the owner has retrieved her pet this morning.

Break & Enter; ASSAULTS; Vehicle Seized August 22, 2011 On August 19, 2011, at approximately10:00 am, Cst. Geoff Whittle attended a Greenhill Avenue residence to investigate a Break & Enter.
Upon arrival he was advised by a 10-year-old boy that another person was in their house and when confronted by the resident, the suspect ran from the house. It was determined the suspect entered the house through a rear sliding door, by prying the hinges off.

One, in August 8th at a residence on the 1600 Block of Wyld Street, was entered by culprits cutting a screen on an open window to gain entry. Items stolen were: 2-HP Laptop Premium Series computers, (one blue, one Black), 3-gold rings (one with a large ruby), 20 DVD’s (X-box & movies), ½ carton of cigarettes, 1-Green “Mammoth” brand packsack and an undisclosed amount of cash. ASSAULT – ASSAULT WITH WEAPON & WEAPONS DANGEROUS August 8, 2011 On Saturday august 06, 2011, two males were in a heated argument over a dog trespassing on one of the males’ property. One of the accused started berating the other accused’s’ daughter and a pushing/shoving match started. One male punched the other and began to walk away when the second male returned from his residence with a table leg and hit the first accused man on the shoulder and back. Both males were arrested and charged, held in custody for a short time and released on an OIC undertaking to attend court Sept 13, 2011.

FIRE FATALITY; DRUG SEIZURE April 1, 2011 On31st Mar at 7:11PM a fire occurred at a residential complex at 470 Bunting. The fire engulfed units 44, 45, and 46. Several other units were evacuated. A body was recovered from a shed at the rear. The Ontario Fire Marshall and North Bay Police are investigating.
