Human Resources
Outreach programs have been initiated within the community to encourage applications from designated groups for employment with the North Bay Police Service under Employment Equity Legislation. As the Service moves more towards Community Based Policing, it must remain representative of the community it serves. The intent was and continues to be, to recruit the best candidates for the Service.
As the Human Resources function evolves it is envisioned that the Service will continue to become more proactive and responsive to employee and Service needs.
Human Resources Co-ordinator
The Human Resource co-ordinator's responsibilities include recruitment, benefits and pension administration, Workers' Compensation claims against management, labour relations and personnel records. The Human Resources Co-ordinator is available to respond to employee questions/concerns on any number of issues, as well as respond to inquiries from the public regarding recruitment. As employees are the Service's most valuable resource, having an employee dedicated to the area of Human Resources is essential.
Pay Equity
Pay Equity Legislation requires that Pay Equity Plans be maintained. In order to facilitate the maintenance of Pay Equity, the Plan previously developed in 1990 was revisited, amended and the required Pay Equity adjustments were made. The new Pay Equity Plan provides a mechanism for the maintenance of Pay Equity and the Service will be conducting a review on an annual basis.
