The DARE Program

In October 1997 the North Bay Police Service introduced the D.A.R.E. program to the City of North Bay (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) - a drug and violence resistance education program aimed at students in grades five and six.

The program emphasis of DARE is to help students recognize and resist the subtle pressures that influence them to experiment with drugs, gangs, and violence. In addition, the program focuses on feelings related to self-esteem, interpersonal and communication skills, decision making, and positive alternatives to drug abuse behaviour.
