Chief Roy Katzmarzyk:

Roy Katzmarzyk was born in 1943 and raised and educated in the Edmonton, Alberta area.

Chief Katzmarzyk joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Military Policeman in 1961 and after training, served on several military establishments in Canada. Roy took his discharge in 1965 in North Bay and joined the North Bay Police in June of that year.

In 1978 he was promoted to Sergeant and during his career has worked in most phases of the police function, spending time in patrol, Criminal Investigation, and Criminal Intelligence.

He handled or was in charge of many of the main criminal cases handled by the Force until his promotion to Deputy Chief of Police on December 1, 1984. In this position he assumed charge of the Patrol Section of the Force.

He assumed the Acting Chief of Police position an January 2, 1987.

Upon Chief  Wotherspoon's retirement on March 31, 1987, Roy took command of the North Bay Police Force as its Chief.
