Chief Constable Elvin A. (Tex) Forsyth:

Born: 1909 in North Augusta, Ont. and raised in Prescott Ont.

Joined the Brockville Police Force in 1930. Promoted to Detective Sergeant in 1938

Tex Forsyth was a graduate of the Provincial & Municipal Police Training School at Toronto. - 1938.

Became Chief of Police of the Prescott Force - 1940

Appointed Chief of Police of the North Bay Force 1942 at the age of 33.

Introduced 2 way radios in patrol cars 1944.

North Bay's population was 17,600 at that time.

He was an ardent outdoorsman. He enjoyed competitive rowing, singles, pairs, and eights while in Brockville and Prescott. Turned to archery and fishing when he moved to North bay.

Retired from the North Bay Force for health reasons.

Moved to Sarnia, Ont. and became a customs officer. While in Sarnia he began his own successful photography business.

Died of natural causes at the age of 66. Was married to Gwenda (DeWolfe). Had one son Robert Forsyth who resides in Sarnia.
