Chief George Berrigan:
Chief Berrigan was employed as a constable with the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force from October 17, 1972 to February 1974.
While employed with the North Bay Police Service he was:
- Promoted to Sgt. on August 10, 1987
- Promoted to S/Sgt. on November 19, 1990
- Promoted to Inspector on June 15, 1992
- Promoted to Deputy Chief on August 1, 1996
- Promoted to Chief on March 3, 2000
While employed with the service Chief Berrigan has been assigned to the Patrol Section, Old Clothes Section and the Criminal Investigation Section. He spent the majority of his policing career assigned as an investigator and later a supervisor in the Criminal Investigation Section.
Chief Berrigan has three (3) Chief's Commendations in his file in addition to countless letters of commendation and appreciation from external agencies and other police services.
Chief Berrigan was presented with his 30-year bar to his Police Exemplary Service Medal in 2002, & was presented with the Queens Jubillee Medal in 2003.
George and his wife, Liz, have two children, Alicia and Ryan. Ryan is a police officer in Peel Region.
George is a a huge football fan, renown for his love of the Buffalo Bills. He plays squash, enjoys his cottage, and plays in the Royal Canadian Legion's pipe band.
George retired as chief in 2004, after serving 30 years with the North Bay Police Service.
