North Bay Police Service , O.P.P. Joint Force Snowmobile Unit

North Bay Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police unite over the course of January to March each year by jointly operating a dedicated Snowmobile Patrol Unit. The focus of the unit is to provide information, education and enforcement on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail systems throughout the North Bay area.

Routinely sworn officers’ ride snowmobiles on the trail and lake systems, performing regular snowmobile traffic stops. Officers are proactive in ensuring compliance in accordance with the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act, Off-Roads Vehicle Act, Liquor Licence Act and related legislation.

In addition the Joint Forces Snowmobile Unit is a responsive support unit. Routinely calls for missing persons, property crimes, snow vehicle collisions and other events were conditions require snowmobile access are attended. The City of North Bay is a popular snowmobiling location for enthusiast across the Province and beyond. It is in the best interest of the North Bay Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police Snowmobile Unit to assist in continuing to make snowmobiling a safe, enjoyable recreation for everyone, while ensuring public safety.
