Colour Party in attendance for Olympic Torch Relay Celebrations

December 31, 2009

D/Cst. McFarlane, D/Cst. deHaas, Cst. Solman, Cst. Ethier and Sgt. Coulas of our Colour Party joined North Bay and area residents and out-of-town visitors at Discovery North Bay to share in the celebration of Day #62 of the Olympic Torch Relay. Thousands braved the cold to view the Olympic Torch Relay as it traveled along Lakeshore Dr., Main St., Ferguson St. and onto the stage in the parking lot of Discovery North Bay. Families and friends wearing Olympic sweaters, toques, scarves and mitts waved and cheered loudly as the flame passed by. Our final community torch bearer, 13-year-old Nicholas Fung was greeted with cheers, laughter, smiles and applause as he lit the cauldron. The North Bay Police Service wishes to thank the local Torch Run Organizing Committee, VANOC, RBC, Coke and the countless community volunteers for hosting a fantastic fun-filled, once in a lifetime community event!
