STOLEN VEHICLE FAILS TO STOP

On the 20th of Feb. at approximately 2 AM a vehicle that was left running in a parking lot on Delaware Av. was stolen.
The vehicle information was called in to the North Bay Police Service and our officers spotted it and stopped it on Pinewood Park Dr.
As the officers approached it, the vehicle accelerated away once more as the officers followed, until it arrived at Wasi Rd. and took southbound Highway 11.
Here, the officers stopped following due to high speeds and concern for traffic.
The vehicle was stopped with a spike belt in the area of Katrine by the Ontario Provincial Police.
Abraham KAMERMAN 36 years old of High St. in North Bay is charged with Theft Under $5000., Dangerous Driving, Failing to Stop for Police, and Breach of an Undertaking. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

ANOTHER STOLEN VEHICLE

On the 20th of Feb. between the hours of 9 PM and midnight thieves stole a vehicle that was left unlocked with the keys in the ignition in a parking within the 1300 block of Franklin St.
This vehicle is described as a 1991 Dodge Spirit 4 door and grey in colour with Ont. licence plate BHER 966. It also had a pink sticker “Malibu” in the bottom right of the rear window.

STOLEN VEHICLE REOVERED

On the 21st of Feb. between the hours of 1:20 PM and 2:15 PM a vehicle key was stolen from a locker at the YMCA and the corresponding vehicle stolen from the adjoining parking lot.
The vehicle itself, a 2007 black Ford Fusion was located by officers in the parking lot of 1350 Fisher St.
When recovered, the complainant’s purse containing her identification was inside the locked vehicle. However the vehicle ignition key is still outstanding.

ICE HUTS BROKEN INTO AND SET ON FIRE

The joint Ontario Provincial Police/North Bay Police Service snowmobile unit is presently investigating a break and enter into an ice hut and the setting on fire of two ice huts off kinsman Beach. It appears that there were 4 sets of footprints at the scene that came from shore.
The North Bay Fire Department could not attend the scene due to the dangerous conditions of a nearby pressure crack with open water.

BREAK & ENTERS

Overnight on the 18th of Feb. thieves forced their way into an office and garage in the 200 block of Olive St. Once inside they stole an impact wrench, sockets and 2 cameras.

On the 21st of Feb. within a 40 minute period beginning at 7:50 PM, thieves forced their way in to a residence in the 400 block of Brennan St. via a basement window. At that time the thieves stole an Acer computer tower, a 17” black flat screen monitor, speakers, keyboard and mouse.

On the 21 of Feb. at 12:16 AM and 2:38 AM thieves forced a door from the ATM area of TD Canada Trust Bank on Main St. in North Bay.
It does not appear that anything was taken at this time and it is surmised that the would be thieves were frightened off by the audible alarms.
