Investigative Support Division

Comprised of eight Detective Constables, two Detectives (Sergeants) and under the direction of the Inspector in Charge, the Investigative Support Section is involved in significant investigations that go before the courts. Of note was the Sara Whitehead Homicide Investigation from 1997 where a charge of First Degree Murder was laid against a former Sturgeon Falls resident.

Other staff assigned to the unit include an Intelligence Officer, two Street Crime Investigators and one officer assigned to a Joint Services Drug Unit, in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Anishnabek Police Service.

Personnel assigned to this Section, respond to the more serious and time-consuming investigations such as homicides, sexual assaults, robbery, thefts, and frauds, where there is substantial property or money loss. The diversed nature of the investigations of this division led to the name Investigative Support.
